Norway should be a good country in which to engage in business and industry.
Norway is among the top entrepreneurial countries in Europe, and there are nearly no restrictions on starting a business. If you are at least 18 years old, not declared incapable and not under bankruptcy quarantine, you may establish an enterprise.
Norway is one of the world’s largest oil exporters, and is among the world leaders in a wide range of industries, such as aquaculture, maritime industries, hydropower, the environment, energy, technology and telecommunications. Within the span of just a few decades, Norway has been transformed from a natural resource-based economy to a knowledge society.
The Norwegian business sector works to develop cost-effective, environmentally-sound and technologically-advanced solutions, to increase industrial productivity and enhance efficiency. A focus on R&D activities and joint ventures with foreign companies has promoted the development of new areas of national expertise, including in software and communications technology, space-related technology, the engineering industry, and biotechnology.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry develops and implements policies and framework conditions for business and industry, trade and shipping. In addition to making active use of the instruments at its disposal, it is important that the Ministry influences and follows up work carried out by other ministries that has a bearing on business and industry.
